About us
A R Cartwright (Construction) Ltd. is a family owned business which has been working in the heart in the Midlands for 45 years.
Specialising in the construction of residential, commercial and mixed use projects across the region, the company has its own construction team, property holding company, and is one of the few remaining developers in the area with their own in-house joinery workshops.
After serving his apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery Tony Cartwright started the company on August 20th 1961, the day after completing his national service in the RAF with nothing more than £300, his bag of tools and faith in himself. During the early years Tony worked from the garden shed at the rear of his parents home in St. Paul's Road. Stockingford.
Since those early days, the company has gone from strength to strength, moving to larger premises until making its permanent home in the Old Vicarage adjacent to the parish church of St. Nicholas in Nuneaton. Working closely with Marjorie his wife, who was the Company Secretary until her un-timely death in 1998, Tony is now the Chairman of the group of companies, and his son Andrew who is also a qualified carpenter and joiner is the Managing Director. It is now a business with a multi million pound annual turnover, employing 30 people directly and many local sub-contractors on many sites in the local community.
Recent high profile projects range from luxury £600k. detached homes in exclusive village settings to the prestigious 300 home development at Woodlands Park in Bedworth. A new feature development for mixed use will be a 37 luxury apartment/office project on one of Nuneaton's main thoroughfares.
Cartwright Homes are proud of the reputation it has developed for the high quality/high specification work it has achieved over the years, which is the result of using skilled craftsmen, traditional building methods and modern design techniques.
The Cartwight Group believes in investing in training all it's staff - whether it be modern business practises using the latest IT technology to the more traditional skills and are proud to take new apprentices every year, many of whom go on to win awards for their work both in regional and national competitions.
As a group they believe in becoming a firm part of the communities in which they develop, making the areas a pleasant location in which families want to live, enjoy a good quality of life and play. To help in this they encourage young people by sponsoring local sports teams.
