About us
Cartwright Homes is a family-run business based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
For 50 years, we have served the local community, building high-quality homes that people are proud to live in.
Our aim is to create individual, unique homes that represent value for money, and we won’t let growth and numbers cloud our unwavering focus to be driven by excellence.
This philosophy is engrained in the day-to-day running of the company and reflects the vision and values held by our founder Tony Cartwright. A proud local man and carpenter by trade, Tony bought his first piece of land in his hometown of Nuneaton in 1961 funded by a £5,000 bank loan. On it he built eight semi-detached homes by hand – one for him and his wife Marge, the rest he sold to local families. As demand for his homes grew, Tony established A. R Cartwright Limited in 1970. His company’s goal then was the same as it is today: to build the best quality homes for the local community at the fairest price.
Today, Tony’s son, Andrew, continues the Cartwright legacy and remains committed to focusing on design and build quality, and to pleasing individual homebuyers rather than shareholders.
Building a home that is tailored to you
Unlike other housebuilders, we actively encourage you to personalise your home.
You will have access to our senior management team, who are open and flexible to accommodate your changes wherever possible.
The ability to make alterations is obviously subject to build stage and cost but can be significant.
If you buy off-plan, we can create the interior of your property to your exacting standards, for example, re-configuring rooms, changing floor surfaces, and repositioning doors and sockets.
Sustainability and the Environment
We implement environmental and sustainability measures within all our new developments. These include:
- Bug and bee hotels
- Hedgehog Domes for the safety of the local inhabitants
- Wildlife gardens with bio-diverse planting species
- Wildflower meadows to feed and promote local bees
- Bat and Bird Boxes on all new homes
- We aim to plant a tree for every new home we build
- Homes heated by air source heat pumps to avoid the use of natural gas or oil
- Water drainage attenuated on the development and dispersed off in natural ditches wherever possible
- We have even created bug activity sheets to keep little visitors busy whilst mum and dad browse our collection of homes

Our charities
We are currently supporting our local Air Ambulance Service, and will be getting involved in various fundraising events to raise money for this great cause.
Work in the community
As a company we love to get involved with the local community and a few recent examples of this include our work with the local Scouts and Guides creating bug hotels. We sent 10 bug hotels out to the groups who foraged for cones, twigs stones, bark and grass to fill the compartments.
For many years we have supported Nuneaton RFC Mini & Juniors, Twycross Cricket Club and Haunchwood Hammers Under 9s.
